Maker principle

Skilled interpretation deserves recognition

Maker respect is a core FORME principle. FORME does not treat makers as invisible labour at the end of a design pipeline. Makers retain agency over feasibility, pricing, method, and bounded interpretation, and their skilled contribution is recorded as part of the object’s provenance.

How it works

Makers receive requests and submit quotes

1

Receive notifications

Get notified when a licensed design is ready for local making in your area or skill range.

2

Review the brief

Assess the design, measurements, timeline, materials, and any specific production notes before deciding whether to quote.

3

Submit a quote

Propose your price, timeline, and approach based on your expertise and the specific demands of the design.

4

Complete the work locally

If selected, realise the work professionally and contribute to the provenance record of the finished piece.
